48th Annual Surf Fishing Carnival
Summary and results
In a contrast to last year, the weather was very pleasant with blue skies and bright sunshine as 100 competitors took to the beaches in search of, what turned out to be, very elusive fish. The 48th annual, Oakdale Angling Club Surf Fishing Tournament was fought out on a very pleasant day, with little wind and little drift.
However, despite the lovely weather, only 42 of the 100 anglers could coax a fish to take the bait or lure. Fishing was slow, with many not seeing even a nibble.
Congratulations to Upwey Angling Club who took out the Champion Team and also the Runner Up Champion Team. Their Team 1, consisting of Larry Stephens, Antony Thomas, Peter Collins, and Peter Duivenvoorden took the honors, and Peter Duivenvoorden also took out the Individual Champion of Champions.
